Teenagers and fashion, how to handle both!
Parents go through difficult times when having teenagers at home, because when they start to feel like grown-ups, they want to make decisions, not always clever decisions and they would not take their parents’ advice.
When you realize that your fashion vision vs. your teenagers fashion vision is not the same, you better get ready to deal with this topic without so much discussion.
Your teenagers are no longer kids, and soon the will really grow up and that means that they will take important decisions, but before they will be taking not so much important decisions like personal image and fashion.
If they chose a certain fashion trending you need to be interested why they would like to dress that way. Fashion is a way of expressing their personality showing themselves as they are in front of their friends or the society.
When we talk about fashion and teenagers, one of the biggest problems with the parents is not the style but the brand they would like to buy. Teenagers are so easy to go by the marketing and its subliminal messages.
Friends are also an influence because if they dress in a certain brand, your son might feel apart if he does not dress in the same brand; therefore, he would like to buy those pants even though they are not the best or are even more expensive.
Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, as a father, believes in the importance of talk to our sons about money value even if we have the money to buy whatever they want. “We need to explain the financial status of the family, priorities, payments or needs that are more important than clothes. They need to participate without having them to be worried about those things, just to understand that expensive clothes do not determine someone’s value”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.
